Rock the Bells Photos | Governors Island
Hip-hop heads gathered this Saturday for the 8th annual Rock the Bells festival on Governors Island. Headliners included Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Nas, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, and Mos Def, each of whom performed hits from their classic breakthrough albums. Other acts included, Black Starr, Cypress Hill, and Mobb Deep. Former Fugees member Pras joined Lauryn Hill on stage as a surprise guest, marking their first time on stage together since 2006. Though Hill promised the audience that she would sing her hits from The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill “the way she used to” many songs were sung much faster than on the album. As usual, Erykah Badu was on point, and thrilled front row audience members when she made her way into the crowd towards the end of her set.
