Siquijor Island | Philippines

It was raining cats and dogs in Dumaguete, so I decided to make my way to Siquijor Island, an off-the-beaten track island in the Philippines known among locals for its black magic and witchcraft.

Back in Dumaguete, I met a Canadian guy at my guesthouse who was also headed that way, so we grabbed the boat together, which cost us a couple bucks and took a few hours. We stayed at Kiwi Dive Resort, (about $15 a night) located on the quieter part of the island. Though the food wasn’t great, I enjoyed my stay. It was so quiet, we were the only tourists there, and our entire stretch of beach was eerily deserted.

We rented motorbikes and circled the whole island in half a day. The highlight of Siquijor, hands down, is Cambugahay Falls. There was no one there and it was one of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve visited in all my travels (in part because there was no one there). We stripped down and went skinny dipping and spent the day frolicking in the blue waters.
