Beaches of El Nido Part I // Philippines

The Huffington Post just ran a great article about the Philippines 8 Reasons The Philippines Is The Best Tropical Destination No One Ever Talks About and I couldn’t agree with it more!

Of the places featured in the article is El Nido, a little slice of heaven that I fell in love with while traveling through the Philippines.

I spent two weeks here after only planning to spend 4 days, and I’m definitely planning to return in 2015. I spent most of my days in El Nido on the beach, and there’s plenty of them, ranging from the popular Las Cabanas to the little known stretch of rocky beach past the El Nido’s main beach.

Below are pictures of two fantastic beaches in El Nido. Nacpan beach and Las Cabanas. There are always tuk tuks offering rides to these beaches, but make sure to ask a few different drivers the going rate. Nacpan is quite far and it’s a rocky journey in a tuk tuk. If you know how to drive a motorbike, you might be better off renting one for the day. We went at night after our crazy cliff climb, and it was complete bliss.

Las Cabanas is popular for a reason, and it’s definitely worth a trip or two to watch the sunset. And if you time it just right… you can get back up the hill and on your tuk tuk in order to see the last remnants of the sun over the bay… and wow, it’s incredible (the last picture in this post).
