Muang Ngoi Laos Travel Photos

After some relaxing fun times in Nong Khaiw, and a beautiful boat ride on the Ou Nam river, my travel mate Trevor and I arrived in the sleepy town of Muang Ngoi. Most of the river banks between Nong Khaiw and Maung Ngoi were uninhabited… when we come across someone on another boat or saw fisherman along the bank, I immediately wondered “I wonder where they live?”  Wel, they probably live in Muang Ngoi.

The only point of entry into this sleepy little town is a cement stairway along the river. At any given time there are 10-12 longtail boats parked along the river’s edge. There are no paved roads. No cars. No atms. It was so quiet when we arrived, and it was also cold! We knew lodging was limited so I told Trevor to run ahead and try to grab a bungalow overlooking the river. It worked! We got a perfect little place with spectacular morning views (note: this place is immediately to your left when exiting the boat/stairs). I believe it cost us about $6/night.

Here is the view from our place
