Day trip to Sigiriya Rock and Dambulla Cave

Yup, I climbed that! And it was one day after I did a 5,200 stairs pilgrimage which I will post soon.

My lovely friend Holly has been teaching at the international school in Chennai India for the past few years, and it was because of her that I ended up in Sri Lanka. She was doing her spring break there so I decided, what the heck, I’ll go check out Sri Lanka! After traveling alone for a bit, we had a joyous reunion and decided to some sight seeing before heading south to Sri Lanka’s beaches.

We decided to splurge and hire a driver for a day from from Kandy to Sigiriya Rock and Dambulla Cave. It’s easy enough to do as a day trip. Sigiriya rock was pretty epic and one of the highlights of Sri Lanka. While we enjoyed Dambulla cave, I might cut it out if I was pressed for time or had to choose between the two.
