I met first met Danna (aka DJ Whitney Day) at one of her epic New York City women’s parties. I was relatively new to “the scene,” but I knew her as THE top gay women’s party producer in the city. After casually shooting some photos at one her events, Whitney reached out and asked me if I’d photograph her wedding.

Little did any of us know that in that year leading to the wedding, the three of us would become such close friends. At our initial meetings, we spent hours chatting about around-the-world adventures, business ideas, relationships, and our own personal dreams as gay travel-addict entrepreneurs! As the summer unfolded, I became Whitney’s personal photographer, accompanying her to some of her largest, most successful events of her career, including Mayor Bloomberg’s Pride Party, Rapture on the River, and her New York City Pride after-party. We had a blast, and through our friendship, I had one of the best summers of my life!

But beyond getting to know Whitney the DJ, I also became witness to the amazing love between her and Hillary.
Here’s a little back story on how they met, directly from the two of them:

In 2005, I went with friends to hear the female acapella group at the University of Massachusetts, where I attended college. I quickly took notice of Hillary, whose rendition of Wild Horses completely floored me. When I decided to try out for the same group, Hillary was the only member who voted me out, thinking my voice wouldn’t blend with the rest. Thankfully, Hillary was outnumbered by everyone else… and luckily so! We quickly became friends, best friends, girlfriends and eventually wives!

It’s safe to say between both of their talents, beauty, and smarts they are one of New York’s hottest power couples in the LGBT community. It was truly a gift to be part of their wedding day and to become part of their lives.
