Lately I’ve been really inspired by Ami Vitale. Not only is she an amazing photojournalist, she is a nomadic woman who gets her kicks continent-hopping and photo-chasing, traveling by herself for months at a time, integrating herself into the story she is telling. Her photographs depict the level of trust and comfort she builds with her subjects and the extent to which she engrosses herself in their lives. I strive to create this kind of relationship with my subject, and rarely does this quality come through so distinctively in images.
