Bushwick Wedding at Fitzcarraldo | Erica Camille Photography

Susan and Doug wanted a wedding that felt like them—low-key, meaningful, and centered around the people they love most. They started their day at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, a gorgeous new boutique spot with sweeping skyline views and plenty of space for quiet, getting-ready moments before the whirlwind began.

The ceremony was held just a few blocks from my own Park Slope apartment, at All Saints Episcopal Church, a warm, historic space filled with light and emotion. From there, we headed to Fitzcarraldo in Bushwick for the reception—an industrial venue that feels quintessentially Brooklyn, complete with graffiti-lined streets, a rooftop framed by a weathered wooden water tower, and 360-degree views of the city.

This was an especially emotional day. Susan’s father had recently been diagnosed with cancer, and the wedding became less about details and more about presence—time spent together, laughter through tears, and a deep sense of gratitude. The energy was tender, joyful, and full of meaning.
