I love traveling for weddings, especially when it’s for friends. So I was thrilled when I heard through the grapevine that Ian and Lori wanted to fly me to Asheville and photograph their wedding. I’ve known Ian’s family since I was born because our parents all went to college together (Manchester College, if you’re curious) back in the nineteen hundreds. That’s right.. the 1900’s. Like, 1970 or something? I don’t even know. In fact, my father dated Ian’s mother Julie during their hayday, but eventually, Julie suggested that my mother date my father (lucky for me!). Needless to say, our parents remained close friends “through the ages,” and it was joyful to have everyone together for this grand occasion.
It was my first time meeting Lori and I had a great time following her around all morning. Her dress was the talk of the town, and it was one of my favorite wedding dresses to photograph. In fact, everyone’s’ outfits were pretty fantastic. But what made the whole day special from start to finish, was the atmosphere Lori and Ian, with the help of family and friends, created. The rich fall colors, the rolling hills, the backyard dance floor, the paper plate BBQ buffet….and of course the entire table full of chocolates. And what’s the best sign that your wedding was awesome? When the band says “this is the best wedding we’ve ever done!”
Congratulations! A wonderful day for everyone in attendance, including me. If anyone out there is looking for an asheville wedding photographer, I’d be more than happy to return.
