“We met on Valentine’s Day at a party themed “All the Single Ladies.” Beyoncé’s anthem had just dropped… though, ironically, we were probably the only actual single ladies in the room.” That kind of perfectly-timed, slightly off-kilter magic would go on to define so much of Katrina and Nora’s story—including their wedding.

I’ve actually known Katrina my whole life. Our moms went to grad school together (social work, if you’re wondering), were pregnant at the same time, and stayed close friends ever since. We didn’t grow up side by side, but we share a deep, intertwined family thread. Photographing her wedding—and witnessing her entire family celebrate—was personal and powerful in a way that’s hard to put into words.

The day itself couldn’t have been more beautiful: golden light, ocean breeze, and a joyful crowd that radiated love in every direction. It felt like everything aligned just right.

And the magic didn’t stop there. A few days later, Nora posted this about their honeymoon dinner:

“We almost canceled our reservation at the Beach Plum Inn due to rain. At 7:15pm we stood on the lawn under a perfect rainbow. At 7:28pm, just before we walked in, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama entered the restaurant. As I held my wife’s hand over candlelight, there were only two tables between us and the Obamas. As they left, I made eye contact with our President and mouthed a big THANK YOU, and that is all.”

Yeah. That happened.
