Frank & Kevin’s Elegant Gay Wedding in New York City

It’s not every day you get asked by two incredibly charming Texans to photograph their same-sex destination wedding in Manhattan. It was an absolute privilege to document the love story of Frank Billingsley—a familiar face to many Texans from TV—and Kevin Gilliard, as they celebrated 17 years together with a stylish and emotional ceremony at the Eventi Hotel.
The wedding date, 12-12-12, held special significance: their ceremony began at 8:12 PM to honor the moment they first met—8-12-1995.
This was a tuxedo-required celebration, and every guest came dressed to the nines. Frank and Kevin’s son, Morgan, brought the house to tears with a heartfelt reading. Guests were also treated to a showstopping cake designed by the legendary Sylvia Weinstock, and the night carried on with laughter, dancing, and celebration until 2 AM.
With only 54 guests in attendance, the night felt intimate, unforgettable, and full of genuine warmth. I’m so grateful I got to witness—and capture—this moment in their love story.
