Colonial charm, Southeast Asian light, and a once-in-a-lifetime celebration

I had the chance to join my friend and fellow destination wedding photographer Julian Wainwright for one of the most unique weddings I’ve ever documented—set in the heart of Luang Prabang, Laos, a place that already held a special place in my heart.

Both Julian and I photograph destination weddings across Southeast Asia, but this was a first for both of us in Laos. So when he asked me to come along and second shoot at one of my favorite spots on earth, I didn’t hesitate.

The wedding took place at the elegant Luang Say Residence, a beautifully restored collection of neo-French colonial villas just outside the UNESCO-protected old town. The light was golden, the setting lush, and the energy—laid-back but full of joy.
