Visit Thailand during Songkran

One of my favorite parts of being in Thailand in April is Thailand’s New Years water festival Songkran. The festival takes place from April 13-15 each year all over the country. It symbolizes washing away all the bad and starting fresh.

There is a dangerous aspect to Songkran though that I always worry about as I watch motorbikes with families go by, getting splashed in the face. During the 3 day festival, the road accident rate nearly doubles in the country. But it is highly unlikely that this fact will put an end to this tradition any time soon.

This past year, I was in Koh Phangann during Sonkran, and I got invited out with a truck load of people I met during my stay. We had an absolute blast!

Just remember to leave your valuables behind! I had my camera rigged up with a couple plastic bags… and of course GoPros are out in full force.
